It's August. It's hot. I'm leaving for market in Las Vegas on Sunday!! Yay! I love market! The forecast for Vegas is 110 degrees Sunday, 112 Monday, 110 Tuesday and so on...Nice! Thankfully the casinos and convention center will be an Artic 68 degrees inside. Tonight I ran up to the store to see the new pieces we received this week. I was looking for inspiration too for new market outfits. I think I found a few fun things to wear for market. You know everyone dresses to the hilt! It is fashion week there!!!

So, I am posting the outfits I created tonight in the store. Some of these pieces have been in the store since the beginning of the summer. I finally got around to trying them on and have mixed and matched pieces from my closet, brand new Fall items in the store now and pieces from the store that have been...well...hanging around.

If my daughter had been cooperative tonight, I would have had her take photos of me wearing the outfits, but she was Cah-ra-nky. Any way, let me know what you think! Look in your own closets to see what pieces you love, but want to give a face lift to. Adding a few staple pieces will change the whole look of your wardrobe.

Rain, Rain, I hope you'll let us dry out a bit before you hit again next week. People aren't shopping in this weather!!! We rec'd Ronen Chen this week from Israel, Hazel and a few Mystree tops in cotton, also JP&Mattie tops. OOOhhh- new sandals too!!! And they are sooo cute! Ok, so we are finally organized and ready for 2010 in our store with newly finished beautiful wood floors. Yea! I wish I had sanded them 5 years ago, the entire store looks so much better, everything is highlighted!

Spring clothing has started to arrive and the store is transitioning once again to the next season. I love this time of year…lighter fabrics, more color, new styles. I just read in the Wall Street Journal from last week that “everything is in” for fashion. The designers are showing hodge podges of everything from years past creating new looks for today. We are finally at the fashion point when your personal style and body shape determining what to buy and wear. FINALLY!!! I was never one to be “on trend”…I didn’t wear mini skirts when they were “in”, skinny jeans never looked good on my, and I’ve never liked trench coats, but I always felt like in was “in fashion” anyway. I wore and still wear what I like and what I think looks best on my body shape. I am so happy to hear the fashion “Knows” feel the same. So, wear what you like everyone and you’ll be perfectly in fashion. The fashion trend is out!

For our early spring deliveries, I’m seeing lots of saturated colors like navy, purple, orange, turquoise, acid green. On the opposite scale you’ll see the fabulous neutral shades in whites, creams, and grays, with lots of organic cottons, knits and linens, but all very textural. Buy classic pieces so you don’t get sick of wearing them and this also allows you to change the “look” of the piece by adding different layering pieces under or over the piece, and different jewelry and scarves.

I’ve seen lots of fun hair accessories recently. I started making flower headbands for the store in November as a fun and inexpensive accessory. I use beautiful silk and fabric flowers with feathers, pearls, felted wool (I felted myself), jewelry pieces, beads, etc…

Each one is a little different and they are selling very well.

The store will celebrate it’s 9^th anniversary on March 17^th, St Patrick’s Day. I remember the first day I was open, I was so scared no one would find me in the back of the Hill Country Music store. Thankfully, a few people did find my and I sold $67.00 that first day. Every time I sold one item, I’d buy 2 to replace it. That’s how I finally got to where I am today…a beautiful store with lots of beautiful clothing and accessories, in a Historic Building right in the heart of Main Street Fredericksburg. No matter where I go from here, I’ll always remember my first tiny store and the opportunities and training that it brought me in my humble beginnings. Thanks to my dad for letting me set up shop in the back of his music store so I could learn the ropes.

In a year when money seems to be tight for many of us, I’ll be concentrating on great values on clothing, an fabulous accessories and pretty jewelry, plus of course those obscure and unique fashions from far and wide. Come shop with us and see what treasure you might find!

Wow, the floors are turning out to be beautiful! No patching or replacing wood...all is well! I can't wait to move back in. We should be open Saturday for business with a new look:)

Next week, January 11-15, we will be closed for a remodel. The carpet will be out and the wood floors re-vived! Come see us Saturday the 16th and expericence the "New" store:)!

wow...another year has passed and the store will be 9 on March 17th. How insignificant this seems, knowing what every person goes through in a passing day. Today, I am saddened my the loss of a child, an acquaintance's 10th grade daughter, killed in a car wreck last night coming home from a Bible study out on Loudon road. Perhaps she had already learned her greatest lesson, forgiveness, and God wanted her home. Teri wrote me a thank you card yesterday, always beautiful, and she memorized and quoted these beautiful words from an old hymn. I've read them over and over today.

"Could we with ink the ocean fill

and were the skies of parchment made,

Were every stalk on earth a quill

And every man a scribe by trade,

To write the Love of God above

Would drain the ocean dry,

Nor could the scroll contain the whole

Though stretched from sky to sky."

Well, we had a fabulous, fun weekend in the store after Thanksgiving! Thanks to everyone who came in and shopped! We just received the line called Comfy and it truly is comfy, So soft and easy to wear! We also have new embroidered shirts from Gypsey Johnnie/Magnolia Pearl in beautiful new colors. Also new french jewelry!!! We had a private party in the store a few weeks ago and I'm just getting the cute pictures up today. Thanks to Carol Penn for purchasing the party at the Hospital Gala Auction. It was lots of fun and a perfect excuse for a Ladies' Night out! We still have some more new Hazel, Comfy, Jaloux clothing coming before the end of the year, plus a new line called Weston Wear with great printed tops. Also, we have more leather belts coming and chunky scarves. Hope to see you soon!!! Jill

We just received Mary Frances purses and New jewelry! Unwrapping each Mary Frances bag is like Christmas day and a surprise awaits in each package. They are all SO beautiful. I think they get better with every season. This is Mary Frances's 20th anniversary year and she has designed a special anniversary bag due to arrive late October. We have another purse line that arrived last week too, pretty little beaded bags with filigree frames, embossed leathers bags, and a really cool woven metal clutch. Jewelry arrived friday too and it's going fast!!! A lady bought 11 earring pairs yesterday!!! When you can't decide which ones---just get them all!!!

Fall shoes are here too! Spanish boots, sequined peep toe flats, strappy casual heels...I'll just post pictures so you can see!!! Bye.

The Hospital Gala is right around the corner and we are thinking "dress up". We just received new beaded evening bags, fabulous jewelry will be here the first on next week, and of course we have amazing dresses in the store directly from France---and they are almost all under $200.00, many of them hover around the $138-$150 mark. Wow, Fall has arrived. This week we received Desigual from Barcelona and Derhy from Paris. They are sooo cool...beautiful funky colors. mixed prints, and fabulous fabrics with great details. We also got fall shoes in! Oh- I love Fall!!!

As I sit here listening to BOB FM Live in Austin, tapping my toes to fabulous "we play anything" music, I'm thinking over my purchases from market last week. Accessories and more Accessories---Think Shoes, Amazingly beautiful jewelry, scarves by the handfuls, leather belts with vintage buckles, rings, hats, and purses of every size and shape! Of course our favorite designers will be represented still...cordelia, hazel, completo plus lots of new ones! In fact, I found so many new lines and the prices are amazing. I think you will be happy with many of the new prices in the store.
Look for purple, orange, teal, slate blues, mustard- think peacock colors. And of course black, gray and neutrals too! You'll see lots of soft neutrals in shades of ivory, pink, gray, taupe for spring with stripes and lace accents. Oh, I found these totally cute silk flower headbands on ribbon in three different groups of colors. They will be so cute as a necklace, belt, headband, around a hat band. I can't wait to get them in this Fall and play with them...they will be so versatile.
My mom shops market with me so we can see everything! We stayed at the Bellagio, which is beautiful and super cheap right now! We splurged the last night and bought tickets for The Lion King. Oh my goodness...you have to see it! The show is amazing, costumes and set SO unique. I highly recommend it!!!
